DBT Group for Young Adults
Our young adult DBT skills group is for people ages 18 to 28 who want practical tools for managing emotions, improving relationships, and building a life worth living. Not a processing group. A skills group.
ABOUT DBT
Real skills for real-life moments.
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a structured, skills-based approach originally developed for people who experience intense emotions and difficult relationships. It has since become one of the most widely researched psychotherapies, with strong evidence for depression, anxiety, PTSD, eating disorders, and borderline personality disorder, among others.
The skills group is not a place to process your history. It is a place to learn and practice specific tools across four areas. Participants often describe it as the most practical thing they have done in treatment.
module 01
Mindfulness
Observing and describing your experience without judgment or reaction. Mindfulness is the foundation of every other skill in DBT, and it gets easier with practice.
module 02
Distress Tolerance
Getting through a crisis without making things worse. These skills are for the moments when emotions are at their peak and you need something to hold onto.
module 03
Emotion Regulation
Understanding and reducing the intensity of difficult emotions over time. Learning to work with your emotions rather than fight them, suppress them, or be controlled by them.
module 04
Interpersonal Effectiveness
How to ask for what you need, say no, and maintain relationships without losing yourself. Especially relevant for early adulthood when relationships are shifting fast.
